The Girl Scout Mission:
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage,
confidence, and character
who make the world
a better place.
We believe that one girl can make a difference, and that girls together can change the world.
Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low had a vision to establish an organization where any girl could expand her personal horizon. In doing so, girls could have fun while exploring new interests and contributing to society. Low sought to instill core values such as self-discovery and community service in girls from the earliest days.
“The work of today is the history of tomorrow and we are its makers,” Low said, and Girl Scouting continues to embrace such ideals. For almost 100 years, Girl Scouts has been providing leadership development opportunities for girls.
Wherever girls live, whatever their circumstances, we help them learn to be safe, think for themselves, and lead the way for others.
