Children in grades K – 6 are invited to get a close-up look at the Billings orchestra in a free music education workshop that takes place Saturday, March 12.
The 19th annual Adventures in Music, a hands-on music education workshop hosted by the Billings Symphony Orchestra & Chorale, takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The program introduces children to the various instruments played in the orchestra and ties music to reading and science. Children will participate in mini-workshops led by Billings Symphony Orchestra musicians. In addition they will have the opportunity to try out various instruments graciously provided by Eckroth Music, Galt String Gallery, Hansen Music and Kirk House of Music at an ‘instrument petting zoo.’
Participants will also attend a portion of the Billing Symphony Orchestra & Chorale’s dress rehearsal for Saturday evening’s performance of Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 5.”
