Winter Sports Sampler-Neihart (Grades 6-12)
Come out to Silver Crest Trails in the Lewis and Clark National Forest to snowshoe and cross-country ski. Warm up with hot cocoa and s'mores over the fire and have a blast!
No experience necessary! Volunteers from the Silver Crest Trails Association will be on hand to help instruct on proper techniques for first-time cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
You will be outdoors for the entire event, so please dress for the weather. Temperatures are typically 10-15 degrees colder on Kings Hill Pass than they are in town. Dress in layers, and wear water- and wind-resistant outerwear including snow pants, boots, hat, gloves, scarf, and warm socks (avoid cotton). Bring your own equipment or use equipment from the U.S. Forestry Service and Big Horn Outdoor Specialists. Snowshoe trails range from 1/3 mile to 1-1/4 mile long, and ski trails range from 1.2 miles to 5 miles. Be sure to bring a full water bottle to stay hydrated!
Warm up by the fire at the warming hut, and enjoy hot cocoa and s'mores.
