Aim Like a Girl ... #2- Cheyenne (Grades 6-12)

Aim Like a Girl ... If You Can will have girls jumping into the world of marksmanship and find out why it is so popular. Did you know the Chinese invented gunpowder and that since 1896, Olympians have been competing in the shooting category?! Experience first-hand with professionals how to shoot an air pellet rifle in one session. Juliette Low said ' ..Scouts should know how to load and fire a gun or other (rifle) so as not to be at a loss for means of defense should an emergency arise. It is one of the best means to 'be prepared' small rifle affords excellent training for the hand and eye!' The session will focus on safety and respect but will also explore America's female western heroes and different careers.

Girls will receive a specially made T-shirt and safety goggles and have the opportunity to earn two types of patches: 1.standard safety or 2.exceptional shot
Girls will be provided equipment and are not allowed to bring their own air pellet rifle or safety equipment. Girls are required to wear closed toe shoes and shirts with long sleeves (one will be provided).

Brings home the old saying that girls shoot better than boys! Shooting sports in America are rooted deep in our history. Learn about their history, laws, interesting careers, and even how to shoot.

Have a friend who is not a Girl Scout? Not a problem. Membership is only $12 for the year and $25 to attend.

Girls must be 12 at time of program to participate due to GSMW safety guidelines.

Program registration deadlines are extremely important for our council.

Knowing the number of girls attending our programs in advance helps us:
  • Determine the number of adults to meet the girl/adult ratio.
  • Allow time to order materials and badges needed.
  • Decide if registration numbers meet the minimum required to hold the program.
  • Have time to mail confirmation letters or cancellation letters.
