Biker Girls-Casper (Grades K-8)
Summer is a great time to get out on your bikes with friends and family. It is important to know the rules of the road. Your safety is important to everyone! Round up your bicycles and start peddling your way to a day of bike fun. With instruction from a certified bike technician you will learn bike safety, including the rules of the road, and some basic bike maintenance as well an enjoy a local bike ride.
Girls will learn basic bike mechanics: tire care and maintenance, how to shift gears, and hand signals. Once they feel comfortable with this new knowledge girls will then pedal their way along the river bike path. Girls will bike over to the soccer fields where they will enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch there will be a short obstacle course and then you will bike back to Cross Roads park.
Bicycle riding is one way to stay healthy and a great recreational event. A survey from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that 71% of Americans say they would like to bicycle more than they do now. This program is a great way to jump start your biking adventure.
Girls will need to bring a bicycle and helmet. It doesn't matter if you have a BMX, 10-speed, or mountain bike - all are welcome! To ensure that the girls have a safe and enjoyable time girls will need to wear closed-toe shoes.
We need supervising adults to ride along with the girls so adults who can bring a bike are encouraged to attend. Girls and adults are responsible for bringing their own sack lunch for the picnic.
This event is open to girls in grades K-8 and supervising adults.
