PEAS Farm Girls-Missoula (Grades K-12)
Tie-up your boots and put on your work jeans - the Girl Scouts are getting ready for some rustic farm work at the PEAS Farm. Girls will tour the organic farm, visit the chicken coop, tickle some piglets, and have fun serving the community through age-appropriate farm activities and rewarding work.
PEAS Farm grows all sorts of good-for-you organic foods like broccoli, kale, carrots, and more - they even have chickens that supply eggs for your community! You can help the farm start their growing season off right by using your green thumb and applying a little elbow grease with some farm tools. Don't worry, we'll provide you with lots of healthy snacks to keep your energy up.
Girls and adults will be assigned to groups according to their age and ability levels. Try one farm job, or try a few. These farm jobs will hardly seem like work because you're doing it all with your friends. It's rewarding, fun, and you'll get to see the 'fruits of your labor' at the local farmers' markets and on your dinner plates! The farm and your town will thank you for all your effort.
Girls can also take direct steps toward their Brownies 'Bugs' badge, Juniors 'Locavore' badge, and Daisies can move closer to their 'Sunny' and 'Clover' petals. This event ties nicely to all of the Daisy Journeys as well as to all of the 'It's Your Planet - Love It!' Journeys for all other age groups. Girls will also have a great opportunity to talk to the farmers about possible take action projects.
This event is open to girls in grades K-12 and supervising adults. K-3 girls should plan to attend with an adult, such as a parent, guardian or troop leader.
'Recruit a Friend:' Make this event even more memorable by bringing your best NON-Girl Scout friends too! Show them how much fun you can have as a Scout and share this wonderful experience together. Non-Girl Scouts will pay the annual membership fee of $12 in addition to the program fee, which will enable them to attend all Girl Scout camps & programs for the membership year.
This event is open to girls in grades K-12 and supervising adults.
