A World of Healthy Cooking #1-Missoula (Grades 2-5)
The Good Food Store's professional cooking instructor will teach Brownies & Juniors how to make their own healthy snacks and simple meals. Girls will be inspired by new flavors, French cuisine, and European flare on their way to earning either their Brownies 'Snacks' or Juniors 'Simple Meals' legacy badges.
Girls will experiment with delectable snacks and tasty meals they can create on their own. The Good Food Store's professional and experienced instructor will teach girls some of the basics of cooking, and they will supply the freshest and tastiest local, organic ingredients to add to their culinary creations. And girls get to eat what they make just in time for lunch! From homemade granola bars, to smoothies, to the tastiest French crepes, girls are sure to enjoy this delicious afternoon!
This event is intended to cultivate a girl's independence and imagination while inspiring her to take interest in her own health and wellness. Girls will take pride in their creations and will share their newfound knowledge with family and friends. Perhaps you know a girl who may be interested in this event? Invite a friend! A girl can register for Girl Scouts and for this event and her membership will last until September 30th, 2014. Plus, she gets her first badge right off the bat! Call GSMW for help registering a new girl.
The cost of this program includes the instruction, food, supplies, and badges. Girls should come prepared to get a little messy and to work with utensils, knives, and hot stoves. Please dress appropriately for work in a kitchen - sleeves shouldn't hang low, wear close-toed shoes, and wear your hair back. Given the small classroom occupancy, this event is closed to adults. However, we do need one adult to register as a supervising adult. Adults are welcome to hang out at the GFS cafe while the program takes place. If adults are interested in cooking classes, perhaps with a troop, please contact the GFS instructor, Emily, at 406.541.3663 x214.
This event is open to girls in grades 2-5.
