A World of Healthy Cooking #2-Missoula (Grades 6-12)
The Good Food Store's professional cooking instructor will teach Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors how to create worldly dishes from local, organic, and innovative ingredients. Girls will be inspired by new flavors and Mediterranean cuisine on their way to earning their 'Locavore', 'Eating for Beauty', or 'World Cuisine' legacy badges.
The Good Food Store's professional and experienced instructor will teach girls some of the basics of cooking, and they will supply the freshest and tastiest local, organic ingredients to add to their culinary creations. By the end of the program, girls will have created a mid-day meal to enjoy with their friends!
This event is intended to cultivate a girl's connection to their local and global food community while inspiring her to take interest in her own health and wellness. Girls will learn to cook meals that can help them maintain a healthy weight, reduce stress, and keep them looking youthful throughout their lives. They'll get tips on how to use tasty ingredients that are full of flavor but low on nasty preservatives and bad fats. In addition, they'll create fancy Mediterranean dishes that are sure to wow the taste buds!
Invite a friend! A girl can register for Girl Scouts and for this event and her membership will last until September 30th, 2014. Plus, she gets her first badges right away! Call GSMW for help registering.
The cost of this program includes the instruction, food, supplies, and badges. Girls should come prepared to get a little messy and to work with utensils, knives, and hot stoves. Please dress appropriately for work in a kitchen - sleeves shouldn't hang low, wear close-toed shoes, and wear your hair back. Given the small classroom occupancy, this event is closed to adults. However, we do need one adult to register to assist as a supervising adult. Adults are welcome to hang out at the GFS cafe while the program takes place. If adults are interested in cooking classes, perhaps with a troop, please contact the instructor, Emily, at 406.541.3663 x214.
This event is open to girls in grades 6-12.
