Pottery at the Square-Great Falls (Grades 2-8)
Join your fellow Girl Scouts in a fun afternoon of creative expression with clay! Learn how to make functional pottery both on and off the potter’s wheel, some basic glazing and firing practices, and take home your original works of art.
First, you'll tour the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and view their collection of pottery. Then it's off to the clay studio, where you'll learn how to be a potter yourself! You'll have the chance to express your own creativity as you craft your own piece of pottery and learn how to use a potter's wheel. Then you'll create a sculpture out of clay. Finally, you will glaze and fire your pieces, and VOILA! You'll have your very own pottery pieces to show off!
Brownies will be able to earn their Brownie Potter badge at the completion of this event. (Badge not included).
'Recruit a Friend:' Girls can make this event even more memorable by bringing their best NON-Girl Scout friends too! Show them how much fun they can have as a Girl Scout and share this wonderful experience together! Earn a 'Recruit a Friend' patch for each new Girl Scout. Contact Jess or Kali Jean at 800-736-5243 to take advantage of the Girl Scout membership offer prior to the registration deadline. The friend will need to register with GSMW and pay the program fee by the registration deadline in order to participate.
