The Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) is a program that is trying to reduce the climbing rates of obesity in this country through nutrition education and physical activities. The CATCH program includes nutrition and physical activities that teach children the importance of healthy eating and physical activity and how these relate to each other, as well as how they affect the body. The program is successful because of the program's key principles:
1. Physical activities are created to be all-inclusive and non-eliminating in an effort to keep all kids moving so they can obtain their recommended amount of daily activity.
2. The educational activities use a variety of teaching strategies including group discussions, physical activities, arts and crafts, songs, goal setting, and hands-on healthy snack preparation.
3. Parental participation is welcome! Parents can attend the series with their daughter and participate in the activities with the girls.
'Recruit a Friend:' Girls can make this event even more memorable by bringing their best NON-Girl Scout friends too! Show them how much fun they can have as a Girl Scout and share this wonderful experience together! Earn a 'Recruit a Friend' patch for each new Girl Scout. Contact Jess or Kali Jean at 800-736-5243 to take advantage of the Girl Scout membership offer prior to the registration deadline. The friend will need to register with GSMW and pay the program fee by the registration deadline in order to participate.
