Holiday Art Fusion-Missoula (Grades K-12)
The Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) has invited Girl Scouts into their winter wonderland of an art studio to teach girls the science and beauty of glass fusing. Girls will create unique holiday gifts and decorations by fusing glass with personalized pizazz and flair.
Glass fusing is a beautiful art form and is easy for all skill levels and age levels. ZACC will provide a tour of their studio along with a 'Glass Fusing Orientation' class to assure girls will know how to work with glass to assure safety and the success of their piece. For their own funky holiday decorations and gifts, participants will choose from a variety of pre-cut glass pieces in a range of colors. Then, they will decorate their celebratory piece using stringers, powder, frit, and iridescent cutouts. Girls will get to show off their personal style with handmade artwork and they will take gift giving to the next level! Visit www.zootownarts.org to see some examples of glass fusing at its finest.
Since 2008, the Zootown Arts Community Center has served as the central bridge between community and art in Missoula. The ZACC is located on the Northside of Missoula where they are helping renew the neighborhood's vitality and sense of community caring. By attending this event, you can support the ZACC and their mission to enliven our community through art and art education.
Normally, the glass fusing class at the ZACC is $15 plus the cost of glass. They are giving us an amazingly affordable opportunity at only $12 per girl! Due to limited space and resources, registration is limited to only 14 girls, so register soon! Two adults are also welcome to register as non-participants. Adults can enjoy the studio tour and help the girls with their pieces. Of course, if you have holiday shopping to do, you can always drop off the girls while you shop downtown.
The ZACC is also open for troop activities. If your troop is interested in other artsy experiments, contact Linds for more info at: firstname.lastname@example.org or (406) 549-7555
This event is open to girls in grades k-12 and supervising adults.
