Winter Olympics Cross Country Skiing-Lolo Pass (Grades 2-12)
In honor of the 2014 Winter Olympics, Girl Scouts of MT & WY is hosting winter sports programs to promote healthy living and outdoor adventure! Attend two GSMW 'Winter Olympics' programs and earn a 'Girl Scouts Gold Medal'. Check www.GSMW.org for more Winter Olympics programs.
The registration fee includes cross-country ski rentals and instruction from a certified cross-country ski instructor. Participants will need to bring their own snacks for this event. In the lodge, there is hot water, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa provided by the Forest Service. They take donations to supply the hot treats. Also, for each car parking at the visitor center, you will need to purchase a day parking permit for $5. All the more reason to carpool! Keep in mind, the program ends around lunch time, so bring cold lunches if you would like to enjoy them at the pass. There will be limited time spent indoors, so proper winter & water-resistant apparel is required.
Brownies must be accompanied by a registered parent or troop leader.
Participants will need to report their age, height, and shoe size in the 'special needs' box upon registration through ebiz to reserve gear at the Trailhead in Missoula. The Trailhead has generously given us half-off of all ski equipment to make this an affordable experience for our girls. Participants will need to pick up their rental equipment the night before the event and we will arrange to have the equipment returned on Saturday after the event.
This event is open to girls in grades 2-12 and supervising adults.
