100th Anniversary Helena Event: 1912 - 1931
NOTICE: THIS EVENT IS FULL
Inspired by the trailblazer Juliette Gordon Low launching Girl Scouts, we are celebrating our 100th anniversary with a journey through the last century of Girl Scouting.
Girls will be transported to a certain time in history, experiencing activities enjoyed by girls of that time.
Join us for the first event November 19 - 20 at the Klefner Ranch in Helena, covering the years 1912 - 1931.
Events continue throughout 2012 in Casper (1932 - 1951), Cody (1952 - 1971), Missoula (1972 - 1991), and Cheyenne (1992 - 2012).
Helena's event kicks off November 19 with a sing-along at the Montana state capitol, beginning at 1 p.m. Girl Scouts have a long tradition of holding sing-alongs at the nation's capitol, and Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming are upholding this tradition in Helena at the Montana state capitol.
The event will then continue at the Kleffner Ranch, located four miles southeast of Helena. The property dates back to the late 1800's and was built as a progressive cattle ranch and special meeting place for the highly elite of that era. This historical landmark full of rich history is the perfect spot for events of the Girl Scout era 1912 - 1931.
Booths will feature activities including making butter, spinning wool, felting wool, archery, quilting, panning for garnets, dutch oven cooking and many more activities that girls and women did in the first years of Girl Scouting.
Cost is $15/girl or $25 if staying overnight ($5/adult or $10 if staying overnight). Cost includes all activity booths and supper. Overnight sleeping space is limited, so register early to ensure overnight accommodations. If staying overnight, please bring a sleeping pad and bag. Guests will be sleeping in an enclosed building and will receive breakfast in the morning.
This event is open to girls in grades K - 12 and supervising adults. Overnight accommodations are for girls/female adults only. Arrangements for other family members can be made upon request.
