SUMMARY:Beginner Snowboarding #1 - Missoula (Grades 4-12)
DESCRIPTION:Want to learn to snowboard? Now is your chance! Girls in grades 4-12 are invited to try their hand at snowboarding. While learning the \\\'heelside slide\\\' and the \\\'falling leaf\,\\\' girls also have the chance to win a complete snowboard package\, donated by our instructor! This lesson is for beginner snowboarders at Snowbowl Ski Area and will be held in the rope tow area. Girls and registered adults will learn the basics of how to get in and out of their snowboard\, how to get off the ground and walk while strapped to their boards\, and they will learn and practice \\\'heelside slides\\\' and the \\\'falling leaf\\\' maneuvers\, among others. These beginner girls will also have a chance to receive a brand new snowboard package! The selection will be made based on the girls\\\' attitude and aptitude for picking up the sport during their lesson\, as well as their compatibility with the available snowboard sizes. A limited number of board packages are available for some very lucky girls!Participants should bring at least $25 to Snowbowl for snowboarding expenses (paid to the resort): a rope tow ticket will cost $5 but it is free with a snowboard rental\, and full rentals are approximately $18 for 1/2-day. A snack bar with a grill and beverages is also available\, but granola bars and hot chocolate will be provided for our group. Participants will also receive a fun patch.Girls need to start getting fitted for their rental boards at 9:00 am to be ready for the lesson at 9:30 am. The official lesson ends at 11:30 am and snowboarders that remain in the rope tow area to board longer will need their own chaperone with them. All Girl Scout attendees are also invited to a FREE pizza party at a Missoula pizzeria after the Snowbowl Ski Area closes at 4 pm\, also compliments of our instructor! This event is open to girls in grades 4-12 and adults and is a very popular event.
