Camping and the great outdoors hav a long standing tradition in Girl Scouts. Juliette Gordon Low believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, she led her Girl Scouts on hikes, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid.Juliette's vision has been at the forefront of Girl Scouts for over 100 years. Along the path of their Leadership Journey, girls are learning specific skills (and earning a badge too!), learning about Girl Scout traditions, participating in the Financial Literacy program, going on trips, and camping! All of these activities are important in developing a well-rounded leader.Your girls have decided that they want to go camping this summer, but now what? Perhaps you had a camp out in your backyard last summer, but this year, the girls want the 'real deal'. If you plan on taking your girls camping to a KOA or campground, then this training is required. In this interactive workshop for adult volunteers, learn how to effectively plan your trip, prepare simple meals, fire etiquette and safety, Leave No Trace, and fun campfire songs and games for your girls to play.In this workshop, you will receive a song and game booklet, sample menu, and various resources to help you in planning our next outdoor adventure. This event is open to adults.Registration deadline: April 19 Adult min/max: 5/40
