- Timbercrest Camp in Red Lodge, Montana
- Camp Castle Rock in Butte, Montana
Seasonal full-time work is available. Start date depends on location, however most training for resident camps begin in early June. Hiring for the 2012 camp season will begin soon. Positions include:
- Resident Camp Directors
- Responsible for directing the execution of a resident camp and operations related to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience program delivery for the Camp Pathway and outdoor program. This person identifies, directs, and supervises all camp program activities and staff. Responsibilities include development, organization, implementation, and management of the camp program operations, systems, and processes. Ensure safety of all campers and staff. Oversee and maintain inventory of camp property. Monitors budget, manages crisis situations and all administrative
tasks. Fill in as a Unit Counselor as needed. Collect, organize, and prepare appropriate paperwork for the Camps and Program Manager. Ability to communicate and train staff in camp program and procedures, safety regulations, emergency procedures, and outdoor training information. The director ensures ongoing staff development.- Bachelor degree in Camp Administration, related degree, or equivalent supervisory experience.
- Minimum 25 years of age preferred.
Experience working with youth required.
Ability to supervise staff and campers.
- Assistant Directors
- Will assist the Resident Camp Director in all phases of the camp operation including camp programs and camp staff. Supervise camp staff to ensure programs are creative, fun, and safe. Review and approve daily programs and all camp activities with the Camp Program Director. Fill in as a Unit Counselor as needed. Ensure safety of all campers and staff. Responsible for direct oversight of camp in absence of the Resident Camp Director. Responsible to
oversee and maintain inventory of camp equipment. Ability to communicate camp program and procedures, safety regulations, emergency procedures, and outdoor training information. Assists with ongoing staff development; promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.- Minimum one season of camp administrative experience (ie; unit leader, assistant director, etc.)
- Minimum 21 years of age preferred.
- Experience working with youth required.
- Ability to supervise staff and campers.
- Program Directors
- Implementation of activities which will provide progressive learning experiences for the campers. Schedules and coordinates the camper’s daily program activities including off-site trips. This position will be responsible for training and coordinating the Counselor In Training (CIT), a leadership program, and the Program Aide training. Set up program areas and responsibilities during staff training. Provide training to staff and monitor proper use of outdoor equipment. Coordinate orders for camp program equipment and supplies, ensuring timely arrival of materials so that supply inventories are maintained at a level that doesn’t interrupt programming. Fill in as a Unit Counselor as needed. Ensure safety of all campers and staff. Assists with ongoing staff development; promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.
- Minimum of 20 years of age preferred.
- Prior experience in camp program activities preferred.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Ability to supervise staff and campers.
- Unit counselors
- Provide a unique blend of instruction, friendship, and leadership to campers. Teach exciting lessons in the outdoors, play games, explain and demonstrate what it means to be resilient. Be able to believe in the individuality of each girl camper. Focus on safety of campers and staff. Performs the required duties within their assigned unit and leads activities during their assigned periods. Plans, carries out and evaluates activities, while helping campers develop appreciation and enjoyment for the great out-of- doors. This position helps each camper in her unit to understand and live up to the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Be a supportive contributing member of the total camp community. Embrace the responsibility of impact that will be made to the lives of the campers, other staff, and your own. This
position is most often referred to as the ‘Heart and Soul of Camp’ so be prepared to change lives…. including your own.- Minimum 18 years of age or high school graduate.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Health Supervisors
- The Health Supervisor has a wide range of responsibilities relating to the health and well-being of the camp community. In addition to responding to all medical situations and managing the distribution of prescription and OTC medication, the Health Supervisor is also responsible for management of the health records, camper arrival health check, emergency drills, maintenance of the health center and first aid and wellness supplies, management of the physical and emotional wellness of campers and staff. Also supervises the health and cleanliness standards for camp. Fill in as a Unit Counselor as needed. Be a supportive contributing member of the total camp community. Promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.
- Minimum of 21 years of age preferred.
- Must be an experienced Healthcare Professional (ex. RN, LPN, EMT, CNA, or upper level nursing
- student)
- Current CPR and First Aid Level I certification.
- Experience working with children and young adults.
- Kitchen Supervisors
- Supervises, directs, and plans camp’s food service. Responsible for the planning and purchasing of food and operational dining hall supplies. The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for planning balanced meals, snacks, and addressing food allergies of campers. Responsible for the oversight of kitchen staff, facility maintenance, and food preparation. Will work with Camp Director to order food and supplies. Ensures all food service areas (dining hall, food preparation and storage areas) are kept clean and sanitary at all times. Promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.
- Minimum 21 years of age preferred.
- Experience working in a camp or institutional food service setting.
- Experience as a cook or assistant cook.
- Prior training and experience cooking for large groups.
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, and kitchen procedures.
- Ability to use kitchen equipment (including electrical and mechanical) safely.
- Ability to unload food supplies and general supplies all of various weights.
- Kitchen Aids
- Works with the Kitchen Supervisor to prepare, serve, and clean-up after meals and snacks at camp. Ensures all food service areas (dining hall, food preparation and storage areas) are kept clean and sanitary at all times. Promotes Girl Scouting in the community; and maintains a positive parent, public, and community relations.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Prior experience working in a kitchen preferred.
- Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures.
- Ability to use kitchen equipment (including electrical and mechanical) safely.
- Ability to unload food supplies and general supplies all of various weights.
