MT & WY Governors Buy Their Cookies! (and Mayors, too)

tiny clusterThe Governor of Montana, Steve Bullock, and the Governor of Wyoming, Matt Mead, along with Wyoming’s First Lady, Carol Mead will be kicking off the beginning of the Girl Scout Cookie Season for Montana and Wyoming!

Today (Friday, January 25) Girl Scouts Christine Patten and Jen Betchie will sell cookies to Governor Steve Bullock at 2:00 pm in the Governor’s office at the Montana State Capitol in Helena, Montana.

Girl Scouts Jaeden Howard, Justys Fetrow, Julianne Healey, Madeline Curry, Gabriella and Annabelle Grant will be selling cookies to Governor Matt Mead and First Lady, Carol Mead at 4:00 pm at the Wyoming State Capital in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Not to be outdone, many city Mayors wanted in on the activities. Including (but not limited to these mayors):

  • Tom Hanel, Mayor of Billings – 4:00 at City Hall, first floor: Girl Scouts: Daisy girls from troop 2002.
  • Michael Winters, Mayor of Great Falls,  at 4:00 ;  the lobby at the Civic Center; Girl Scouts from Troops 3127 and 3236.
  • Mayor Tom Murphy at 4:00, in the Mayor’s office at 210 E 5th Street in Gillette, Wyoming;  Girl Scouts: Oliva Even – 3rd grader, LeAnn Francis – 12th grader.
  • Miles City Mayor, Butch Grenz at 10:00, Friday at the 600 Café in Miles City, Montana.

Mayors who could not participate on Friday, January 25 have found other ways to support cookie sales. Mayor Duffy of Worland, Wyoming will sign a proclamation on Tuesday, February 5th naming February 8th the First National Girl Scout Cookie Day! Girls will be selling cookies to Mayor Brown in Cody, Wyoming on Monday, January 28th at 4:30 at her office.

Girl Scout cookie season begins on January 26th. Girls will be selling door to door from January 26th to February 10th; Cookie Booth sales will be March 16 – April 7.

Did you know that girls are able to attend summer camp, travel the world and assist in community projects with the funds their troop receives from each box of cookies? Cookie sales are part of the financial literacy program of Girl Scouts, teaching girls 5 skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.

  • Door-to-door cookie sales, January 26 to February 10
  • National  Girl Scout Cookie Day – February 8 Media: Girl scouts will be donating cookies to some special people on Feb. 8. Please watch for additional information to be released soon.
  • Girl Scout Booth sales, March 16 to April 7
